You may know that I'm developing with XPages for some months now (and collecting knowledge about XPages development here).

I made quite a secret about the project since then, even my collegues at YouAtNotes didn't see anything for months. But now I'm finally moving toward a public beta!

All features planned for the beta are implemented and we're polishing, killing bugs and writing content so that the beta feels like the real thing. At this moment I'm fighting with some new problems brought by the latest 8.5.1 beta, so I cannot tell when exactly we open the beta. I hope late this or next week.

But what I can do is tell some first things about the software :-) In fact, I will write a series of blog entries in the next days covering some features and how they are implemented. After each article you may get a better idea what the software is about, and when the beta is done I will write a summary.

So, some first information:

1.) Free or commercial?

Since the software will be very easy to use and to configure, there's not much potential for selling service. Therefore, the software will cost money and will not be free.

2.) Is it a biggie?

I believe so :-) The software does not cover one very specific requirement, but is a package with lots of features needed for solving a big pain for many companies.

3.) Target audience?

The software will be suitable for small, medium and - in later stages - even industrial customers.

4.) Technology used?

What kind of question is that...? :-) Domino and XPages, for sure. Nothing else.

5.) Language support?

The software is completely multi-language capable, we will deliver english and german translations. The language used depends on the browser setting, a german browser will display everything in german, an english browser will display the same application in english.

The localization does not only cover texts but also other stuff like date formats.

And a tranlsation service is built in. so that for example an english visitor can translate german content with a single click.

More languages can be easily added, all texts are stored in a simple Notes application and be translated from there to any latin language.

6.) Is it cool?

Yep.

7.) Sounds good. But what is the software for? Tell me!!!

No, I don't tell you yet. Read the following blog entries, try to figure it out by yourself :-)

8.) What's the name of the software?

The abbreviation is "YouAtNotes CSC". I will tell you what "CSC" stands for. Later.

9.) At least a screenie, please!

Here is one (many areas pixelated):
